About Joel Gardner
Born and raised in LA county in the South Bay area, I developed some artistic talent from watching my dad. I refined that talent through years of self-teaching, which laid a foundation for much of what I know about art today. But reality smacked me in the face when I took a high school art class and realized that I didn’t know everything about art. Now I can’t get enough out of art classes, and look forward to improving my skill more and more everyday. Immediately after I graduated in 2012, I was able to enjoy taking a few summer art courses at Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD), where I earned 4 college units and made some good friends.
I was accepted to LCAD and received an institutional grant based off my portfolio, but was forced to defer due to financial reasons. Currently, I am pursuing my education at Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington, California; but I plan to attend LCAD next year and for the rest of my college career. I am hoping, though, that my education will pay off and help build a career in the game industry. It is often said that “if you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life,” well its hard not to have fun while making games!
I am open to feedback/constructive criticism on my art, because I am always trying to improve. I am also interested in challenges/special requests you have for me, I can always use some fresh ideas! I hope you enjoy my art pieces. 😀
